1. Who we are
DancePoint is operated by LysakerWCS, a West Coast Swing event organisation based in Norway. For any privacy-related inquiries, contact us at lysakerwcs@hotmail.com.
2. What data we collect
We collect the following personal data when you use DancePoint:
- Name and email address (when you create an account)
- Profile information: username, country, date of birth, WSDC ID, dance role and level
- Event registration details: role preferences, partner information
- Payment information: processed securely by NETS Easy — we do not store card details
- Communication data: emails sent to you regarding registrations and payments
- Technical data: cookies, IP address, browser type (see Cookie Policy)
3. Why we collect it
We process your personal data for the following purposes:
- Account management — to create and maintain your account
- Event registration — to process and manage your participation
- Payments — to facilitate secure payments through NETS Easy
- Communication — to send you registration confirmations and updates
- Legal compliance — to meet our obligations under Norwegian and EU law
4. Legal basis
Under GDPR, we process your data on the following legal bases:
- Contract — processing necessary to fulfil your event registration
- Consent — for optional cookies and marketing communications
- Legitimate interests — for platform security and fraud prevention
5. Who we share data with
We do not sell your data. We share data only with:
- NETS Easy — for payment processing (NETS Privacy Policy)
- Supabase — for database and authentication hosting
- Resend — for transactional email delivery
- Event Directors — your registration details are visible to the organiser of events you register for
6. How long we keep your data
- Account data: retained while your account is active, deleted within 30 days of account deletion request
- Event registration data: retained for 3 years for accounting and legal purposes
- Payment records: retained for 5 years as required by Norwegian accounting law
7. Your rights
Under GDPR you have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you
- Request correction of inaccurate data
- Request deletion of your data (right to be forgotten)
- Object to or restrict processing
- Data portability — receive your data in a machine-readable format
- Withdraw consent at any time

You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Norwegian Data Protection Authority (Datatilsynet).
8. Data security
We use industry-standard security measures including encrypted connections (HTTPS), secure authentication, and access controls. Payment data is handled entirely by NETS Easy and never stored on our servers.
9. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. We will notify registered users of significant changes by email.
